Here’s a tip that makes it easy to scoop out a pumpkin for pies and soups. Poke holes in the pumpkin with a fork. Bake the pumpkin in a pre-heated 375° oven until softened. A 5 pound pumpkin will take about an hour. Remove the pumpkin from the oven and allow to cool. Slice across the middle and scoop out the flesh.
